Post-vasectomy testing (semen analysis) is very important to confirm the success of your vasectomy. This is normally carried out at 16 weeks and involves your sample being tested at an accredited laboratory. Our fertility partners are The Rotunda Hospital, Dublin. You will be given instructions along with a container and padded envelope on the day of the vasectomy. The envelope is posted to the laboratory and we will communicate the results to you also by post. There is no charge for this test.
Occasionally there will be “stragglers” identified and the international advice is to repeat the test after a further 2-3 months, ensuring regular ejaculation in the interim and using full contraception.
